The C.Y. Tung International Centre for Maritime Studies (ICMS), Department of Logistics (LGT), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is organising the International Forum on Shipping, Ports and Airports (IFSPA) in PolyU¡¦s main campus at 25 ¡V 28 May 08.  IFSPA¡¦08 is celebrating its 2nd anniversary focusing on global and regional maritime and aviation economics, policy and management. This year, it is also one of the special events celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok. IFSPA¡¦08 serves as an ideal platform to solicit professional opinions from international academics and industry practitioners on maritime and aviation economics, policies and logistics management. We expect a wide range of attendances from Asia-Pacific and other overseas regions.

Interested parties are cordially invited to submit academic papers to IFSPA¡¦08. All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed and accepted papers should have clear theoretical base, supporting data, scientific analysis and be founded on sound knowledge on the topics concerned. Author should have been directly involved with the study being reported and he/she (or at least one of them in case of multiple authors) can deliver a 15-20-minute presentation during the Conference. We are looking for papers focusing on (but not restricted to):

  •     Maritime Safety, Security & Piracy; Maritime Economics & Finance; IT in Maritime Management; Port & Shipping Management; Maritime Law & Insurance; Maritime Environment & Policy

  •      Airline Competition & Management; Airport Planning, Operation & Management; Air Transport in Asia-Pacific; Aviation, Economic Growth & Sustainability

  •    Logistics Management

Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings (with ISBN code) which will be included in the Engineering Index 1. Selected outstanding papers will be included in the special issues published by two prestigious transport journals, namely: Maritime Policy and Management (MPM) and Transport Policy (TP), the official journal of the World Conference on Transportation Research Society (WCTRS). Authors are requested to submit their abstracts on or before 01 Feb 08, and the full paper on or before 14 Mar 08.
