Celebrating 70 years of contributions to Hong Kong

Established in 1937 as the territory’s first tertiary technical college – Government Trade School, PolyU is now Hong Kong’s largest university dedicated to applied research and education.  Over the past 70 years, many innovations and technological breakthroughs achieved at PolyU have also won international acclaim for Hong Kong.

Since 1937, the Department of Logistics has been developing in the same pace with that of the logistics and shipping industry to keep abreast of the times.  Evolving from maritime radiotelephony class at Government Trade School in 1937, to Department of Maritime Studies inaugurated at the Hong Kong Technical College in 1954, then to Department of Shipping and Transport Logistics in 1999, and further to the Department of Logistics today, the Department not only witnessed the growth of PolyU, but also historic changes in maritime and logistics industry over the past decades.
