Welcome Message from the Head of LGT

Welcome to the Department of Logistics (LGT), an elite home of logistics education suited with the unique PolyU CARD: Collaboration; Application; Real world connection; and Differentiation.  Why are we different? It is because: Some learn about the real world, while we learn in it!  Either linking classes to the real world, or bringing the real world into classes, we are working towards achieving excellence in  maritime studies, shipping, transport, and supply chain  logistics by providing high quality of teaching, research and consultancy.  But why is it so special about “maritime”? It is because: Without ocean transport, real world logistics and global supply chain simply cannot operate!

Our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of International  Shipping and Transport Logistics are unique in Hong Kong and the  region, offering our one-of-the-kind Shipping  and Transport Endowed  Fellowships (STEF) awards each year with generous donations from  maritime and logistics industries. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of our  activities and staff qualifications and experience, we are in a strategic  position to attract a wide range of supports and opportunities within the  general arena of shipping  and logistics.

I hope you will find our website informative and interesting.

Head & Chair Professor of Maritime Studies
